We’ll Take Care of the Nicknames, Thanks

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Pictured here is one Nicolas Swisher, getting his fuzzy friend painted for Mother’s Day.  (Hey, we’re not here to judge.)  However, we wanted to take a moment to point out the bill of his cap.  He’s used some kind of gel pen to draw a cross and “D.30″ on it.  The latter is apparently short for “Dirty 30″, his self-styled nickname

People, this is why we are in charge of nicknames around here.  First, it’s not cool to assign yourself a nickname.  Second, when you do assign yourself a nickname, you give yourselves crappy ones like “Dirty 30″.  Honestly, “Dirty 30″ next to a cross may be the worst cross-promotional idea since G.I. Joe dated Barbie.

As the master of nicknames, Mr. Swisher, we will take care of giving you a new name.  Your new name shall now be… “Nick Swisher”.  Because you’re in the penalty box for awhile.  No nicknames for you until you’ve learned your lesson about self-naming.  You’re cut off.

(Like that pink abomination on your chin.  We appreciate it’s for a good cause and all, but the last time we had something like that on our face… well, that was the one and only time we’ll ever attend a bachelorette party.)

Welcome to the New Icebox

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

(Check out the new dimensions!)

Months in the making, hours in the chilling… it’s the new Refrigerator Logic.  Settle in and don’t play with the ice machine!  (Oh, and please update your bookmarks, blogrolls, and secret shrines accordingly.)

Please note the new features of this shiny new cooler.  First, on the right, all of my world conquest targets are listed at the top.  (Almost all.)

The latest Treehouse Fort can always be played from the right sidebar as well, for those of you looking for an aural experience.

Next, my practice Twittering for the last month or two has finally reached a semi-useful level. Therefore, you can see bon mots populating the right hand side from time to time.

On a more regular basis, you can now find a convenient place for all my offsite work.  I will no longer clutter the main page with daily bullet lists; all my work will appear on the right as soon as it’s published.  If you click on the li’l orange fella at the top of that box, you can even add that link to your handy RSS feeder so you have Tuffy with you at all times.  (It’s okay; I’m a cheap date.)

Finally, the new blogroll certainly has sites missing.  This is because I am an idiot.  Please let me know if I have forgotten you.

What Made Ben Wallace So Ill in Boston?

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Sounds like Ben Wallace’s allergic reaction to the pre-game fireworks smoke in Boston was worse than previously thought:

“Exams and testing done at The Cleveland Clinic today determined that he has allergies and a viral inner ear infection in his left ear with dizziness. He is currently listed as doubtful for Game 3 versus Boston tomorrow night (Saturday) at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.”

What on Earth could be in that haze that caused Ben Wallace to not just have an allergic reaction but infect him so badly that he may not play in this series? What could drive Ben Wallace away?
